Bupa offers free health assessment to new health insurance customers

Bupa has launched a special offer giving new private health insurance customers a free Be.Motivated health assessment, worth £289, when they buy and start a Bupa By You policy between 19 October and 30 November 2026.
The new joining incentive is open to customers who buy directly from Bupa or through a broker, including those switching from another health insurance provider.
What Bupa’s free health assessment involves
The Be.Motivated health assessment is a one-hour, face-to-face appointment with a health adviser at a Bupa Health Centre. It covers core health checks for diabetes, cholesterol, body composition, metabolism, and heart and lung health. In addition, there is a mental health review where members can talk through their wellbeing and how they are coping with any stress or anxiety.
After the assessment, members can access a library of health and wellbeing resources in the My Bupa app and Bupa’s Anytime HealthLine, which lets them speak to a nurse 24 hours a day.
The main policyholder can take up the assessment once they’ve had their policy for a month, and must book it by 31 March 2027, giving at least five working days’ notice. Members who cancel with less notice, or don’t attend, lose their free assessment.
Bupa confirmed that the health assessment is separate from its health insurance, and that the results won’t be shared with Bupa as the insurer.
Who can get the free health assessment?
The offer applies to new Bupa By You policies bought and started between 19 October and 30 November 2026 on either full medical underwriting or moratorium terms. There is one assessment per policy, for the main policyholder only, and they must still be a Bupa member when they redeem it.
The Bupa offer isn’t available to:
- professional or semi-professional sportspeople
- customers who move from a Bupa company scheme to a personal policy
- existing Bupa customers, unless they are re-underwritten onto a new Bupa By You policy
Customers who buy through a broker and choose Bupa’s Guided Care option, which reduces their choice of consultants in return for a lower premium, are also excluded from the special offer.
The free health assessment can be combined with Bupa’s couples and family savings and its partner discounts.
Chris Steele, founder and editor of myTribe Insurance Experts, said:

“A full hour with a health adviser is a valuable extra, particularly the mental health review, which you don’t usually get with a free health check. But a free assessment shouldn’t be the main reason to choose a policy. Compare the cover first, and if you’re buying through a broker, check whether Guided Care is part of your quote, as that will rule you out of the offer.”
