AXA Health cuts health insurance prices by up to 20%

AXA Health has announced a mid-year reduction in premiums for two of its main health insurance products for individuals and families.
From 1 July 2025, the insurer has cut the price of its Personal Health product by 20% and its Health For You plan by 10%, a significant shake-up to its pricing structure.
AXA’s Personal Health policy is designed for individuals seeking a comprehensive choice of hospitals and specialists, who are willing to pay more for the added flexibility it provides. By contrast, Health for You is AXA’s budget-conscious option with hospital and consultant access limited to a guided list. There are no changes to the pricing of AXA’s other private medical insurance product, AXA Health Plan.
No changes to product features
AXA Health stated that it would not be making any changes to its products to accompany the price reduction. In a message announcing the premium cuts that was shared with advisers and partners, the company emphasised that it would be: “The same great products, now more affordable for your individual client.”
This change comes outside the insurer’s usual product review cycle, which typically takes place in October. The October 2025 review is still scheduled to go ahead, so this mid-year adjustment appears to be an attempt by AXA Health to offer better value to individual customers in a competitive health insurance market.
The insurer emphasised that the price drop won’t apply to customers who are under no-declaration underwriting or AXA Health group leavers with planned or pending inpatient or outpatient appointments.
Monitoring premiums
Cost is often cited as a key barrier to private medical insurance, so AXA Health’s decision to cut prices without changing benefits or features is welcome.
We recently updated our research on the cost of private health insurance, which revealed that over the last year the average cost of a new private health insurance policy has remained fairly static.
