Rachel Lacey is a freelance financial journalist with over 25 years’ experience writing about personal finance. She started her career writing about protection for Cover Magazine and home loans at Mortgage Solutions, before moving on to a 17-year stint at Moneywise. Rachel went freelance in 2020 and has since written for a range of organisations, websites, and newspapers, including The Telegraph, The Mail on Sunday, Interactive Investor, NerdWallet UK and Saga Money. Her speciality is breaking down complex financial topics and making them easier for everyday readers to understand.

With over 25 years’ experience, Rachel Lacey is a specialist financial journalist who has written extensively about insurance, protection, pensions, investment and tax. Since going freelance in 2020, Rachel has written for The Telegraph, Times Money Mentor, NerdWallet UK, Confused.com and Compare the Market. She’s also a regular contributor for Interactive Investor and Saga Money. Rachel relishes ditching the jargon and helping a diverse range of readers make more informed financial decisions.  

Rachel Lacey started her career at Cover magazine, writing about protection, and Mortgage Solutions over 25 years ago.  She then moved to Moneywise where she embraced all things personal finance. During those 17 years Rachel became the magazine’s editor and launched How to Retire in Style, a specialist pensions magazine for over-55s.  

Rachel has now worked as a freelance financial writer for five years, writing for national newspapers such as The Telegraph, The Times and The Mail on Sunday. She also regularly writes for Saga Money and Interactive Investor.
